Three of the remaining fightmon that were supposed to be released during the All Hallow's Event are delayed, sorry. And this event is now officially over, however we will still add the three fightmon that weren't released according to schedule.

If you haven't noticed the announcement in the bottom-right corner, Wikia is hosting a costume contest! The contest is to dress up our wiki halloween-themed! The top wiki gets featured by Wikia and gets 1 month of spotlights.
In case you haven't seen the wiki in the past 2-and-a-half weeks, we've already done that. So... we're done!
(Edit 10/24: One month, not one year)
Just Updated
Emoticons have now been added to this wiki. Do you like them or dislike them? Have any ideas? Post them here!
I've officially started the French Wiki. I'm in the process of transferring all of the pages over.
Sorry about not doing updates for a while. I forgot to post updates on the wiki along with the website!
- The game has been delayed, as you can probably tell from the lack of a game named Fightmon the Game: Pluff. We're hoping for a release sometime this month.
- We have decided to modify our blog (once it is back up) so that we use Eternity Incurakai login instead of the included logins. Once the site is back up, it will be in optional beta. The entire process will be completed by the end of the month.
- The website is currently down. XenoK is doing some updates on the site. Once these are done, we will begin merging Eternity Incurakai and Fightmon logins.
- New Fightmon Weekly Newsletter will be coming out this weekend.
A day late, and I missed last week. Sorry!
From the editor |
We have to delay the game until at least the 20th. For that reason, the August event signups will be delayed also, beginning July 20th and ending July 27th. In other news, we have new forums put up, my bot Trackersinterfacebot did a typo check, more on the August event, and more! With all this news, we have had to add 2 more columns!

Developer's report
- Game moved to July 20th.
- We now have a Facebook page and a website. The website now has an integrated forum!

No update this week!
User rights and wiki report
(Finally get to use this section!)
- We are working on a new policy, Confirmation Policy. It is currently in draft.
- Trackersinterfacebot did a typo check, finding 16 pages with typos. More information below.
No major changes since last week. We have the Facebook integration put in, now we need Eternity Inc. and Kongregate logins.
|
The first event will be released in August of 2013. It will involve attacking someone's yard. Signups will begin July 20th and end July 27st (Note: this is different from other months. Starting in September, they will be from the 14th to 21st). To sign up, you will first need to load the game. Then, you must go to the Event Signup page and chose your event. Finally, you must reload the game to confirm your choice. |
I have done a spell check. Here is a list of all changes:

Bonjour! Je m'appele iggyvolz! Yep, I speak French! I have about 3 years of experience, so I'm not perfect. I'd like to plan on translating FTG:P into other languages, starting with French. I'm planning on releasing this August 1st, however this has a lower priority than things like events and alliances. If anyone would like to help translate, I'd be grateful. Leave a comment here and we'll get in touch! I've also been told that Ahirbhairav knows Gujarati, so that may be coming soon also! |

What do you think of the delay from July 10th to July 20th? |
From the editor |
We made it through E3. Although we were 2 hours late, I dropped the connection twice, and the video was bugged up, we got through it.
It just hit me that FTG:P is less than a month away. I've got the basic structure down, but now it's just programming each individual tower.

Developer's report
Announcements:
- Less than 1 month left!
- We are in the process of moving our website to http://fightmon.eternityincurakai.com/
- We now have a Facebook page.
- Three new fightmon in creation!
Technical report From Wikia:
Major Bugs Fixed
- Wide table popups will no longer lose the bold and italic text formatting of the original text.
- Welcomes posted on message walls are now marked as bot edits. Note: this fix went live last week.
- The Special:GameGuidesContent page will be available to admins on all gaming wikis.
Other Notable Changes
- Shortly after the release, a script will run to convert existing YouTube tags to File pages. This conversion is already happening (as of last week) for newly added YouTube tags.
- Attribution on the new File pages will be attributed to the user who added the YouTube tag.
- The script's edit to the content page will be attributed to WikiaBot.
- The upload date for the video will be the date that the file page is created (i.e. sometime this week); the result will be a large number of entries on Special:Videos with the same date noted.
- Height values will not be considered in the conversion; Width values will be retained and the thumbnail will be displayed at its native aspect ratio.
- YouTube tags with a height value of 30 pixels or less will not be converted to File pages, since that is an alternate method of embedding audio content.
- Update: The script to convert all youtube tags to file pages will be run on Monday.
Select Known Issues
- Users cannot edit their user profile header while on www.wikia.com - please use community.wikia.com (or any other wiki) instead.
- A few users have reported persistent problems with JavaScript across all their browsers on specific computers recently, causing many features to break including article images. If this is happening to you, please send us a message at Special:Contact, as we are trying to identify the common cause. (We suspect there may be some particular software that is blocking an aspect of Wikia).

What did you think of the E3 Presentation? |
From the editor |
I published two Fightmon Weekly Newsletters in two weeks! Must be some kind of record! The "E3" presentation is going to be Wednesday at 2:00 PM. We will be posting it on Ustream at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/Fightmon. Immediately after the presentation, we will be posting a demo of the game on our Facebook page, so stay tuned! Because of so many missed updates, we are going to be cancelling Stats Blast and Fightmon Weekly Updates. We will be releasing those updates during the "E3" presentation.

Technical report From Wikia:
Major Bugs Fixed
- Our image server thought it was on vacation this weekend. We've had a stern talk and it seems to be back on track now.
- It is no longer possible to create Message Wall and Forum posts with titles that consist of only spaces (which made them difficult to access).
- Categories inherited from templates no longer visually disappear after adding a new category in view mode.
- Images used on Shared Help pages did not work in the media lightbox: we have switched off the lightbox for these images.
- The ImageSizeInfo extension (
#imgw
), used on some wikis, has been fixed. - The system that picks images for use in Related Pages and categories galleries will no longer skip over valid images from articles.
Other Notable Changes
- The new file page layout is enabled for all wikis (it was previously enabled only for English wikis)
- The page Special:GameGuidesContent becomes available to admins on all gaming wikis, and is enabled by default on all newly created gaming wikis. (Note - The process accidentally omitted Fightmon wiki and some other wikis. This will be included next week)
Select Known Issues
- Hitting tab while viewing a page turns links on all inactive local navigation menus into ninjas (they disappear).
Update
Sorry for the confusion related to the youtube tag change. It should have been listed in the tech update, but there was a miscommunication and so it was missed. So what has been changed? We are now converting all <youtube>
tags to full video [[File:videonames]]
. The reasons for this are:
- The video players for videos that are embedded via youtube tags are loaded into the page upon page load - this makes the page slow. However, videos that are added using the video embed tool are embedded as a video thumbnail image and the player is only loaded when the thumbnail is clicked. This helps speed up page load times.
- Tracking of views is difficult and slow to update when the youtube tag is used
- Future video projects (such as special pages to help admins manage videos on their wikis and find video duplicates) use file pages and youtube tag videos can’t be included in these because they do not have file pages.
We will be running a script to convert all current tags to file pages soon. The new file pages will be attributed to the user who added the youtube tag and the edit to the page (doing the conversion) will be done by and attributed to the wikia bot.
tl;dr
Youtube tag is supported but all tags are being converted to file pages. This is being done to:
- Decrease page load time
- Take advantage of upcoming better tools to manage youtube videos
- Allow for more accurate tracking of views
Please let me know if you have any questions, and again sorry for the confusion.

Sorry this is so late, this has just slipped my mind for weeks. We finally have an interview in here. We have canceled our public beta. We moved our website to http://fightmon.hp.af.cm/. We now have a new article, "Comparisons to Other Games" to replace "Intro to Programming". More on all of this below.
Our premium resource is Gold. You can get by a few methods:
- You get daily gold. We're not sure how much, but it will increase as you get on for consecutive days.
- You get gold for good wiki edits. Spam, vandalism, or stuff that doesn't contribute to the wiki at all will not count and will result in your banning from the wiki and/or removal from this program.
- You get monthly gold just for selecting an event. If you are all caught up on events, you get double gold that month.
- Random mini-events can give you gold
- You can get gold from some events
- We might feel like giving out gold just because!
So what is gold used for? Quite a few things:
- Trade it for other resources
- Speed up things
- We could, in the future, offer a beta test for a certain amount of gold.
Interview with luigiOK20, an artist for Fightmon:
- iggyvolz: How long have you known about Fightmon?
- luigiOK20: I think i played Fightmon: Reemon for the first time in september 2012.
- iggyvolz: How did you find out about it?
- luigiOK20: I was looking through the forum's when i saw a forum about Fightmon, so i played the game.
- iggyvolz: And what did you think?
- luigiOK20: What i liked about it was the wiki and the stroyline about everything, and that there were a lot fightmons and they all had their own storyline's, abilities etc. I liked being on the wiki.
- iggyvolz: Thank you for your time.

Note: This is part 1 of the series "Comparisons to Other Games". Although Fightmon the Game: Pluff is the same genre as Backyard Monsters, we have ensured we keep our own identity as a game and not a clone. Here are some differences:

I knew there was something we missed last week. We have an interview in here for you next week. We also have much more detailed information about events and the second installment of "Intro to Programming". We have officially started our new blog. More on all of this below.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ |
Note: This is part 2 of the series "Intro to Programming". The first part is available here. Once you are all done with Scratch, it is now time to introduce you to Stencyl 2.0 (Stencyl 3.0 is coming soon and I will describe that later). Stencyl 2.0 is a free program that is built on the ActionScript language, which creates most Flash games you see today (Stencyl 3.0 uses the Haxe language, which creates Flash, HTML5, Java, or Javascript games). For you first project, I would suggest trying out the Crash Course game. Everything you need is included in Stencyl (with a few exceptions) and the instructions are here. If you find something broken in the tutorial, check the comments or send me a message on my talk page. After you are experienced with Stencyl, you may want to try the Stencyl Jam 2013. You have until April 30th to make a game with Stencyl. It has to be original, and could win up to $250 with 1 year of Stencyl Studio (the premium package of Stencyl). I am not personally going to enter because I'm working on Fightmon (and it won't be ready in time). On the subject of Stencyl 3.0, I got confirmation that Stencyl 3.0 free version will come out. Did you notice our new newsletter format? Thanks so much to the Ba Sing Se Times of Avatar Wiki for letting us use this format! Thanks to all of the developers (aka 2years-too-young) who helped on this. The Ba Sing Se Times has a staff of 8 writers with a community of about 450 users (counting those who have edited in past 30 days) while we have 2 writers in a community of... 2. And we also have a major game to develop with little experience. And the other developer's weren't available, so I wrote this issue myself. So, here goes nothing!
We've got a double update for you today! The building resource is Wood and the general resource is Oil. Next week will be the premium resource and how to get it.

With just over 4 months until the release of Fightmon the Game: Pluff, I have quite a bit of programming to do and would be grateful for some help. Don't think to yourself, "I'm not good at programming!" or "I don't have any money to download expensive programs." I have never spent a penny in my life on a programming software or class, and I've only been programming for a bit over a year, but I already have a good chunk out of the game. If you're just starting out, I would recommend starting from scratch. By scratch, I mean Scratch by the Massachusetts Institution of Technology. Just play around with it for a little while. This video is a good idea to try. You can pretty much look up Scratch Projects for Beginners and find tons of projects. You can also look up some of the Fightmon Scratch prototypes that we've made and re-mix them yourself! |
